IN THIS LESSON

Atonement theory—the idea that Jesus is the sin offering for the world—has been a topic of debate for a long time. Increasingly, in progressive circles, some Christians ardently refuse to accept this view. But Paul makes it clear in this passage: “God sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as a sin offering; and, right there in the flesh, He condemned sin” (v. 3). Where else do you see Jesus as a ransom, the Lamb of God, or the Lamb who was slain?
