After reflecting on life under the law, Paul lays out his findings: "When I want to do what is right, evil lies close at hand!" (Rom. 7:21). Is this proof of the “limps on the shoulders”—an angel on one side and a devil on the other? What story from the Old Testament, especially Genesis, does Paul have in mind when he speaks of the desire to do what is right and sin crouching at the door?
